Archives Galore!

I have always wondered what it would be like to work as a researcher or archivist. The work sounds so fascinating. As an author, I relish in the research and love to go down rabbit holes to find that bit of information that will change my story. The HHV organization owns, restores, and preserves numerous sites important to the history of the Hudson Valley. My new release, Mystery in the Hollow, is set at Sunnyside, one of those sites, which graces the cover of the book. Sunnyside is the former home of Washington Irving, America’s famous short story author of The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow.

The archivists invited us into a large pristine room with a giant wood table in the center and bookcases lining the walls. They seemed thrilled to share their space and answer our questions. And, they invited me to come back and research their archives. I definitely look forward to that opportunity!

‘Til next time,

Barbara
