The Bronze Lady

I wanted to use this first blog post to introduce you to a very special character in the book when Carrie, the protagonist, stumbles onto this Sleepy Hollow Cemetery legend.

“I knew I had found her. The Bronze Lady.

Facing the crypt, a bronze figure sat in an oversized chair, her ample body shrouded in a cloak. The statue towered over me, about eight feet tall and five feet wide, and was framed by tall pine trees. What drew me to her were her features. Enormous hands that should belong to a man. Large, overdeveloped forearms coming out from a woman’s average-sized body, healthy and supple. Unusually long toes peeking out from under her dress just added to my interest. The chair was hard and cold, exposed to the elements. Dirt and grime had settled in the crevices of her chair and her wrap from a lack of attention. She was doomed to an eternity sitting watch over her lost soldier in this place of death. ”
